Experts sound off on power, performance, and maintenance

72 Hours Served on the Joliet Autobahn

We had such a blast at our last 24 Hours of LeMons race that we just had to go back for round two. It’s only fitting—right?

So, immediately after the PEAK LeMons sweepstakes ended, we notified our lucky winner, loaded the hauler, picked up TJ, and set out for the Autobahn Country Club where we would be spending the next three days Doing Time in Joliet.

This time around the ‘PEAK Marketing Tools’ team had a few extra bodies in their pit. Crew Chief Bart Nelson was back calling the shots and keeping chaos to a minimum. NHRA Top Fuel dragster pilot TJ Zizzo also joined the ranks alongside PEAK LeMons sweepstakes winner, Jack Wilson. Even PEAK’s Marketing Guy Bryan Emrich made it out to the track.

In typical fashion, the ’89 Foxbody Mustang acted up on Friday forcing the team off-track and into the pits to diagnose the issue. With the help of Foxbody guru and the editor of Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords Magazine, Evan Smith, fortunately the team quickly found the culprit – a fuel pump relay malfunction.

With a few turns of the wrench and a part swap or two, the team was ready to go back racing Saturday morning.

Saturday and Sunday race days were interesting to say the least. Much to our surprise, the Foxbody remained malfunction-free all weekend. It ran strong and carried the ‘PEAK Marketing Tools’ team over the finish line, where they completed the race in 21st.

The PEAK LeMons Chicago photo album will be up on our Facebook page soon so just sit tight.

Starting October 7th, PEAK Nation will have the chance to make one last mad dash for the LeMons checkers. Make sure to join our email posse & follow us on Facebook or Twitter to get notified when you can sign up for the ‘Arse-Freeze-Apalooza‘ race sweepstakes in Desert Center, CA—it’s just outside LA.
