A Strong Start Falls Just Short
After taking the number one qualifying spots in both Top Fuel and Funny Car at the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals, all three John Force Racing hot rods narrowly missed the finals at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Sunday afternoon.
Funny Car low qualifier Robert Hight advanced to the second quad, but not without excitement after an explosion at the finish line created a thrash between rounds. Hight’s 3.951-second pass finished third in the quad, falling short of the finals to Ron Capps’ 3.935 and eventual race winner Bob Tasca’s 3.934.
Top Fuel low qualifier Brittany Force started the day with a first-round quad win with a stellar 3.722-second pass at a 330.80 mph. In the second round, she ran 3.815-seconds after dropping a cylinder and failed to advance to the final quad.
John Force powered his BlueDEF PLATINUM Chevy Camaro to an impressive 3.925-second pass at an event top speed of 332.02 mph to win his first-round quad. In the second elimination quad, Force would fall short of the final quad to Matt Hagan’s 3.927 and Tim Wilkerson’s 3.947.
The John Force Racing trio will continue competition with the NHRA Southern Nationals at Atlanta Dragway on April 30th-May 2nd.
