NASCAR CUP SERIES

It was a dominating victory for Kevin Harvick as the NASCAR Cup Series heads toward its 10-race playoff.  The 2014 series champion won the second stage and led the final laps of the race, pulling away to a 6.118-second victory over runner-up Joey Logano.  Harvick started from the pole and led five times for 119 laps in route to his 48th NASCAR Cup Series victory.

Bubba Wallace finished third, posting the second top-three result of his career. William Byron finished fourth, followed by PEAK’s Clint Bowyer and Denny Hamlin rounded out the top six.

With Bowyer finishing fifth and Ryan Newman in eighth, they locked up the final two playoff positions.  It was heartbreak for Jimmie Johnson and Daniel Suarez however, as both drivers failed to make the playoffs, ending Johnson’s unprecedented streak of qualifying for every Cup Series postseason.
