Courtney Force dominated the Funny Car category this weekend in Richmond, Virginia, qualifying number one, running low ET, top speed and winning the race for her fourth victory of the season. In the 50th all JFR Funny Car final round, Courtney outran her father John with a 4.039-second pass to his 4.076-second pass, securing her 12th career Funny Car win.
After a rocky start this season, John Force raced his way to the finals, outrunning Tommy Johnson Jr., Cruz Pedregon, and Tim Wilkerson in route to the all John Force Racing final round. Reigning world champions Robert Hight and Brittany Force however had early exits in the first round.
The JFR team will continue a four week stretch in Bristol, Tennessee this weekend June 8th-10th.
NASCAR CUP SERIES
PEAK’s Clint Bowyer gambled that the rain would be coming, and it did just in time for him to secure his 10th career Cup series win at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan.
Bowyer assumed the lead under caution at the end of Stage 2 when crew chief Mike Bugarewicz opted to gain track position by only taking two tires. On the lap 126 restart, Bowyer held off teammate Kevin Harvick until caution again fell three laps later for a spin by Ricky Stenhouse Jr. The rain began during the caution period, soaking the track and forcing NASCAR to call the race on lap 133.
With pole winner Kurt Busch finishing third behind Bowyer and Harvick, Stewart-Haas Racing scored its first ever 1-2-3 sweep in NASCAR. Kyle Busch finished fourth with Paul Menard rounding out the top five. PEAK’s Daniel Suárez finished 30th after losing a lap due to a spin on lap 66.
