Robert Hight Takes Home the Win!

NHRA

In true three-time champion fashion, Robert Hight had the ultimate bounce back when he raced to his first victory of the season at the rain delayed NHRA Spring Nationals at Houston Raceway Park on Monday.  Brittany and John Force both had early exits in the first round.

After two races of fighting gremlins and early exits, Robert Hight entered race day having taken advantage of the lone qualifying session to start in the fifth position.  In eliminations, Hight defeated an absent Bobby Bode, Cruz Pedregon, and Bob Tasca III in route to the final round where he matched up with Ron Capps.

In the finals, Hight stayed consistent, hitting the finish line at 3.916-seconds to defeat Capps tire smoking run.  The victory marks Hight’s 52nd career win, fourth at Houston Raceway Park and ties him with legendary Top Fuel driver Joe Amato for 12th on the all-time win list.

In the opening round, John Force hazed the tires while still running 3.971-seconds but it wasn’t enough to hold off opponent J.R. Todd’s 3.916.  Even with the early exit, Force remains third in the Funny Car series standings.

After qualifying number six, Brittany Force’s tire smoking 4.738-second pass wasn’t enough for Doug Kalitta’s 3.765 run in the opening round of Top Fuel Monday morning.

Up next, John Force Racing will head to New England Dragway in Epping, New Hampshire for the NHRA New England Nationals on June 11-13.
