Robert Hight wins NHRA Winternationals!
|The NHRA teams were rained out Sunday afternoon, but Monday brought clear skies and a Funny Car victory for Robert Hight at the Winternations in Pomona, California. Check out all the highlights below.|
Robert Hight raced to victory at the weather delayed NHRA Winternationals, the opening event of the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season. Hight, the number one qualifier, came out Monday morning on a mission. After having to step off the throttle in his first-round win against Terry Haddock, Hight strung together a trio of 3.8-second runs in three good side-by-side races for his 46th career victory and fourth Winternationals win.
John Force currently sits fourth in the points standings following Sunday’s semifinals defeat to teammate Robert Hight. Force fell short to teammate Robert Hight after running a 3.930 to Hight’s 3.883.
In his Top Fuel debut, Austin Prock defeated teammate Brittany Force in the opening round. In the second round, Prock had a stellar 3.699-second pass at 334.15 mph but was narrowly defeated by Mike Salinas and his 3.685-second pass at 334.40 mph.
