Robert Hight wins NHRA Winternationals!

The NHRA teams were rained out Sunday afternoon, but Monday brought clear skies and a Funny Car victory for Robert Hight at the Winternations in Pomona, California.  Check out all the highlights below.


Robert Hight raced to victory at the weather delayed NHRA Winternationals, the opening event of the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season. On the way to the win, Hight handed team owner John Force a loss in the semifinals and watched Top Fuel teammates Brittany Force and Austin Prock face-off in a first round duel that earned Prock the first-round win of his career.

Hight, the number one qualifier, came out Monday morning on a mission. After having to step off the throttle in his first-round win against Terry Haddock, Hight strung together a trio of 3.8-second runs in three good side-by-side races for his 46th career victory and fourth Winternationals win.

John Force currently sits fourth in the points standings following Sunday’s semifinals defeat to teammate Robert Hight.  Force fell short to teammate Robert Hight after running a 3.930 to Hight’s 3.883.

In his Top Fuel debut, Austin Prock defeated teammate Brittany Force in the opening round.  In the second round, Prock had a stellar 3.699-second pass at 334.15 mph but was narrowly defeated by Mike Salinas and his 3.685-second pass at 334.40 mph.

The NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season continues at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park with the NHRA Arizona Nationals February 22-24.


The NASCAR Cup Series will begin the 2019 season this Sunday with the 61st running of the Daytona 500 in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Ryan Blaney will drive the PEAK/Menards Ford Mustang in Sunday’s race and will present PEAK customer Tom Feranec and his wife Anita a check for $5,000 after winning the PEAK Daytona 500 VIP Experience sweepstakes promotion featured in all Menards store locations.


Rich Energy Haas F1 Team unveiled its new-look for the 2019 FIA Formula One World Championship with a livery launch hosted at the prestigious Royal Automobile Club (RAC) on Pall Mall in London last Thursday.  Incorporating the black and gold colors of Rich Energy, the premium British energy drink, drivers Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen, together with team principal Guenther Steiner and Rich Energy chief executive officer William Storey, peeled back the covers before a throng of assembled guests at the RAC.

The physical unveil of the Rich Energy Haas F1 Team will take place at 8:00AM February 18th outside of the team garage at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

Formula One pre-season testing will run February 18-21 and again February 26-March 1 at the Spanish track before the season-opening Australian Grand Prix March 17th in Melbourne, Australia.


The twelve race, 2019 PEAK Mexico Series schedule will be released at Daytona Speedweeks while the teams continue to prepare for next season’s tour.


The dirt late model teams spent the week in Tampa, Florida at East Bay Raceway where Tyler Erb scored wins Monday and Tuesday nights, Jonathan Davenport scored wins Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday nights and Hudson O’Neal took home the win by inches on Thursday night.

PEAK’s Josh Richards had a strong start to the season with a runner up finish on Monday night, third on Wednesday night, and top ten finishes on Tuesday and Saturday nights.

Richards is currently sixth in the series standings heading into the next event in Chillicothe, Ohio on March 15th.
