Vickers Earns Top 10 for MWR at the Glen
Michael Waltrip Racing has seen a lot of success at NASCAR’s road courses, chalking up two wins in recent years at Sonoma Raceway in Northern California. Sunday at Watkins Glen in New York, MWR added to their tally of top finishes when Brian Vickers, driver of the No. 55 machine for two-time Daytona 500 champ Waltrip, brought home a tenth-place finish. Clint Bowyer struggled throughout the day and took the checkered flag in 27th. However, Bowyer’s fortunes should improve this weekend as the NASCAR Cup Series heads to Michigan International Speedway, where the Kansas native hasn’t finished outside the top ten since early 2010.
The NHRA returns to action this weekend after a week off to recover from the Western Swing, which saw John Force Racing sweep the Funny Class with wins by each of the three drivers in the class: Robert Hight, Courtney Force, and John Force. Known for The Zoo, a week-long party similar to the infield at Talladega, the action in Brainerd, Minn., should be just as intense.
